Locally…
Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area is a 6,000-acre mecca for wildlife and is only a 15-minute drive south of the home. The facility is most known for watching the thousands of ducks, geese and swans swooping in during fall and spring migrations. The 400-acre lake has surrounding areas for picnicking, self-guided bike and driving tours and 12 hiking trails.
Another outdoor recreation hot spot is Blue Marsh Lake about 25 minutes east of the home. Also offering over 6,000 acres but featuring a 1,150 acre lake with 3 boat launches, stilling basin for fishing and a swim beach. You can also hike, bike or ride horse on over 36 miles of trails.
Another local spot great for spending times outdoors is the Myerstown Community Park and Pool. With over 26 acres of land devoted to recreation there is plenty of room to relax and hang out. Within Lebanon there is also, Coleman Memorial Park on the north side of Lebanon with over 99-acres of green space. Also, Stoever’s Dam Park in the northeast section of the city offers 153 acres for camping, picnicking, canoeing, fishing, and hiking.
Next, the Swatara State Park is located in the northern part of the county. This outdoor oasis features 3,520 acres of outdoor recreation. There are 18.2 miles of hiking trails for biking, hiking and horseback riding. There are also several access points to Swatara Creek for tubing, canoeing, kayaking, or fishing.
Another great spot for outdoor recreation is the Lebanon Valley Rail Trail. This is a national recreation trail that runs throughout the county and connects to trails in surrounding counties. It is a great spot for walking, riding bike or horseback riding in some areas. The rebuilt trail is put together from two local railroads, The Cornwall & Lebanon Railroad and The Cornwall Railroad. Once completed this will be a 25-mile trail. There are multiple trail heads to throughout the county to access the nearly 18 mile section of current active trails.
School District…
The home is in Eastern Lebanon School District. This public-school district is in the south-eastern part of Lebanon Count. The district is comprised of two elementary schools, an intermediate school, and a middle school and high school. Eastern Lebanon School District, nicknamed ELCO is home of The Raiders.
